WINNIPEG 24 UKRAINIAN MUSEUM OF CANADA, MANITOBA BRANCH The museum, located in the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral, a Winnipeg landmark, features a Ukrainian Baroque architectural style with an exterior mosaic by Leo Mol, a carved icon screenwall, stained glass windows and religious icons. It houses a collection of Ukrainian folk arts and crafts, traditional dress of various regions, Easter eggs, wood carvings, a library and gift shop. Open July and August, Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. or by appointment. Admission charged. Campbell Farm and Food Discovery Centre is the first hands-on interpretive facility which will explore the ways in which food is made in Canada. Exciting and interactive exhibits lead visitors from the farmer's wheat field to the kitchen table. A highlight of these exhibits are viewing windows into a research barn where visitors will peek into a day in the life of a pig. Visitors learn about every aspect of food production from farming practices to retail sales. The history of the site includes Ambroise Didyme Lepine's role in the Red River Resistance of 1869-70, which ended in the creation of Manitoba. location: south of Broadway off Fort St. AVIATION MUSEUM WESTERN CANADA Your aviation adventure! See historic aircraft and artifacts, including a replica of the Avrocar flying saucer, SKYWAYS, a hands-on discovery exhibit for children. Built in 1903-1904, this dramatic Gothic-inspired church features slender pinnacle towers and a beautiful rose window. location: Maryland St. and Westminster Ave. Western Canada Aviation Museum WINNIPEG ART GALLERY The gallery houses a collection of contemporary, historical and decorative art, as well as the world's largest public collection of contemporary Inuit art. View railway artifacts from yesteryear and the first steam locomotive on the Canadian prairies, "The Countess of Dufferin" that arrived in 1877. Follow the development of the railways with the displays and rolling stock into the start of the diesel era. Gift shop.
