02 - NATIONAL TRUCKING WEEK On behalf of Manitoba Public Insurance, I extend my best wishes to all Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) members and their employees for a safe and memorable National Trucking Week. I want to commend the MTA for supporting its members, and for their dedication toward ensuring the trucking industry continues to prosper. National Trucking Week is the perfect opportunity to take pride in your driving skills and expertise, and to recognize your hard work and achievements. As you know, the trucking industry is vital to Manitoba's economy. Not only does our province's trucking industry keep thousands of Manitobans employed, it is also vital to other major industries, including manufacturing, construction and agriculture. Your industry also plays a key role in keeping our roads safe. Manitoba Public Insurance is proud to support this fast-growing industry by helping you get more qualified truck drivers on the road. We accomplish this together through the Entry Level Professional Truck Driver Training Program, which we developed with input from the MTA and other members of the local trucking industry, as well as by sponsoring Manitoba Trucking Association events annually, including the Provincial Professional Truck Driving Championships. At Manitoba Public Insurance, we appreciate your ongoing commitment, and look forward to continuing to work together on industry and road safety efforts. All the best, Dan Guimond President and CEO Manitoba Public Insurance Trucking facT: From 2008 to 2013, the number of semi tractor-trailers involved in collisions resulting in injuries or fatalities was reduced by 5.3% (Manitoba Public Insurance Annual Report)
