KEYSTONE AGRICULTURAL PRODUCERS: MANITOBA FARMERS THEVOICE OF KAPis Manitoba's largest general farm policy organization and we represent and promote the interests of the province's farm families. Did you know?Approximately 11% of the world's land area can be used to produce crops but when you consider the fact that 70% of the world's surface is covered in water and almost 30% is dry land then only approximately 3% of the world's total surface is used for food production. Did you know? It is estimated that 1 in 8 jobs depends on direct and indirect spin-offs from agriculture. Did you know?Agriculture-connected industries include: food and beverage processing and rawmaterial manufacturing, as well as wholesale, retail, banking, applied science, and other service sector components which supply services to farmers and other agriculture-related workers. By only producing a small amount of the value of a slice of bread farmers generate a significant economic impact resulting in 9.5%of Manitoba's GDP. Every dollar a farmer generates inGRAIN revenue generates 20 dollars for general revenue. The Farmer's Share is a snapshot of what consumers pay for products such as vegetables, grains, dairy products and meat as well as what the farmer receives for these products. The study tracks prices for items such as carrots, potatoes, cereal, bread, yogurt, eggs, pork and chicken.
