Based on stories from the bestselling book Sightseeing by Rattawut Lapcharoensap, the film is a winner of multiple international film festival awards. (Thai with English subtitles) Shown with: Still A Rose WEDNESDAY, OCT 14 6 p.m. TOTALLY OUT RIGHT The 2015 graduates of Winnipeg's Totally OUTRight program, a sexual health leadership training program for Gay, BI, Queer, and Two-Spirit male-identified youth, present a short documentary film that focuses on the discrimination that occurs between guys in Winnipeg. The premier screening is followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers. Guest curators are Queer Media Database Canada-Québec Project founder and president Thomas Waugh and coordinator Jordan Arsenault, who will introduce the films and host post- film discussions. (MediaQueer.ca will also present a workshop at Video Pool on Oct. 14, to which festival goers are invited.) 7 p.m. P4w: Prison For Women Canada, 1981, 82 min., directed by Janis Cole and Holly Dale This Genie Award-winning documentary looks at the lives of five women in Kingston's notorious Prison for Women, which has since been closed down. Most compelling is the portrait of devoted couple Janis and Debby, who will be separated for 20 years after Debby's imminent discharge comes up. Shown With: a Day In The Life Of A Bull-Dyke Canada, 1995, 11 min., directed by Shawna Dempsey and Lorri Millan The public and private lives of a "big-boned butcher" who finds passion and purpose are documented with the same mix of reverence and glee found in the exposés Bull-Dyke mocks. 9 p.m. À TOUT PRENDRE [TAKE IT ALL] Canada, 1963, 99 min., directed by Claude Jutra Canada's first explicitly gay-themed feature film, this "semiautobiographical" experimental narrative finds a young filmmaker named Claude in a mixed race relationship with a woman who suddenly guesses that he likes boys. Winner of Best Feature Film at the 1964 Canadian Film Awards. (French with English subtitles) Shown with: i Know What It's Like To Be Dead Canada, 1989, 3 Minutes, directed by Bruce Labruce This gritty self-portrait provides insight into the gay cineaste's pre-narrative phase. A 16mm collage of Toronto 80s moments with an eclectic sound-track of Tiny Tim and radio samples. FRIDAY, OCT. 16 7 p.m. ALL ABOUT E Australia, 2015, 93 min., directed by Louise Wadley A sexy DJ at Sydney's hottest gay nightclub, E is forced to go on the run when she stumbles on a bag of cash. Can she keep the money, conquer her demons, AND get the girl? 9 p.m. PATERNITY LEAVE U.S., 2015, 90 min., directed by Matt Riddlehoover This romantic comedy finds couple Greg and Ken facing unexpected parenthood after Greg begins feeling nauseated, fatigued, moody and — most unfortunately — fat. 11 p.m. SEED MONEY: THE CHUCK HOLMES STORY U.S., 2015, 72 min., directed by Michael Stabile This documentary feature is the story of gay porn mogul Chuck Holmes, who amassed a fortune starting in the 1970s and later tried to funnel it into the gay rights movement. SATURDAY, OCT. 17 4 p.m. GUIDANCE Canada, 2015, 80 min., directed by Pat Mills When former child star David can't make rent, he resorts to impersonating a high school guidance counsellor in this comedy. A loveable character in deep denial of his sexuality, David makes well-meaning attempts to support the students, but suffers epic fails once he employs his usual coping strategies.
