Jamaal Westerman came to the CFL after appearing
in 58 career NFL games.
He registered 62 tackles, six sacks, four fumble
recoveries and one forced fumble while adding 27
special-teams tackles.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., who grew up in Brampton,
Ont., Westerman returned to Canada after spending
his NFL career with the New York Jets (2009-11), Arizona
Cardinals (2012), Indianapolis Colts (2012), Buffalo (2013),
Pittsburgh Steelers (2013) and Cleveland (2014).
Since he signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as
a free agent on May 7, Westerman has distinguished
himself as one of the team's most valuable players.
For the month of September, in appearances from
Week 11 to 14, he was named a Shaw CFL Top
Performer of the Month.
In the Bombers' four September games,
Westerman tallied 14 tackles and four sacks. He
registered a pair of sacks in one game against
Calgary, holding a league-leading 11 at the
end of September — a tally that just keeps
climbing, standing at 15 last week, along with
56 tackles.
Jamaal is the brother of B.C. Lions'
Jabar Westerman.
