14 HOME GAME PLAYBOOK SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2015 WINNIPEG FREE PRESS CHEER & DANCE TEAM PROFILE LEANNE'S Q&A YEARS ON TEAM: Two HOMETOWN: Winnipeg POST-SECONDARY STUDIES: Psychology at the University of Winnipeg WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO TRY OUT FOR THE CHEER TEAM? I have always had a passion for the performing aspect of cheerleading — being a member of the Blue Bomber Cheer Team has given me so many opportunities! WHAT'S YOUR DANCING/CHEERLEADING BACKGROUND? I took dance classes as a child and had a lead role on my high school cheerleading team, but have only been training competitively for three years. WHAT OTHER ATHLETIC PURSUITS DO YOU ENJOY? I love keeping up with my physical fitness by working out at the gym and attending yoga classes. WHAT COMMUNITY EVENT DO YOU MOST LOOK FORWARD TO EACH YEAR? This was actually the first year I've attended Folklorama and I was extremely impressed with the cultural shows and delicious food. I'm looking forward to checking out some new pavilions next year. WHAT CHEER TEAM EXPERIENCE ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT THIS SEASON? Definitely Grey Cup. Being new to the team last year, I had no idea what to expect in Vancouver. Representing the Bombers and being involved in such a huge corporation is an unbelievable feeling. Now that it's at home this year, I can't wait for my friends and family to see what it's all about. IS THERE ONE SPECIAL PLACE YOU'D SUGGEST GREY CUP FANS VISIT WHILE THEY'RE IN WINNIPEG? If you have the opportunity, I would definitely recommend checking out the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. Not only is the architecture stunning but the exhibits are extremely fascinating. Allow yourself lots of time because making it to the top of the tower is worth the view! WHAT IS ONE THING PEOPLE WOULD BE SURPRISED TO KNOW ABOUT YOU? Before competitive cheerleading, I was an avid ringette player for 10 years. Spending evenings and most weekends in the rink was somewhat a routine for me. WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN FIVE YEARS? In five years I hope to be finished school and pursuing a career in Marriage and Family Therapy. I also see myself checking off some of the travel destinations on my bucket list. POSITION: STUNT TEAM FLYER
