Carberry Learn about the life of the early settlers at the Carberry Plains Museum. Among the historical characters are Wop May – First World War pilot, Tommy Douglas – former Premier of Saskatchewan, Ernest Thompson Seton – world- famous naturalist, and Stanley Knowles – Canada's Statesman. The centre is home to the Brandon & Region Tourism Centre, Brandon First and Ducks Unlimited Canada offices. They also sell souvenirs and provide interpretive information showcasing the beauty of the area. From here, you can explore the Assiniboine Riverbank Trail which runs 17 km/10.5 mi along the Assiniboine River in a network of paths that link to the Red Willow pedestrian bridge. The site is an important archaeological bison kill area where bones and artifacts at least 1,200 years old have been found. See a reconstructed enclosure with a viewing platform. Get a glimpse at life before Europeans arrived here. location: Grand Valley Provincial Park See the impressive exhibit of North America's most varied collection of reptiles, amphibians and arachnids at the Westman Reptile Gardens near Brandon.
