And one of the primary advantages is the longevity of many businesses, which speaks to stability and experience. "There is a lot of history in our business community. Being able to work with businesses that have been around for 25 to 30 years is a benefit to the residents," he says. "We're educating the local residents about what the community has to offer." Next year marks East St. Paul's centennial, and the Chamber intends to take an active role in celebrations throughout the year, he adds. "We have opportunities as a Chamber to create some community involvement in East St. Paul. We've had a few events with quite a good turnout." Running a business is always challenging, but DesJarlais, who owns CSN Printing, hopes the new organization will make life a little easier for entrepreneurs. "Getting involved with the Chamber was a great opportunity to promote my own business and get to know some of the others," he says. "We get the benefits of working together as a group.
