24 who's who WEDDINGS Weddings SECTION HEADING Whether you choose the historic grandeur of the Fort Garry Hotel, the iconic Fairmont Winnipeg at Portage and Main, or a rustic country garden, your wedding venue will always be your special place. Fairmont Winnipeg marketing manager Pascale Rocher says the Winnipeg Ballroom can comfortably seat 650 guests, but the hotel has hosted weddings for as few as four people, and some couples simply hold a dinner party at the Velvet Glove restaurant — which becomes an annual anniversary destination. "It's where a lot of people got engaged," she adds. "We can really customize any wedding and we really always look to make every wedding personalized. We can make it as extravagant and detailed as they want and we can make it as basic as they want." The Fort Garry Hotel offers an equally large variety of options for bridal parties of all sizes. The 103-year-old landmark has four grand ballrooms — three of which are National Historic Sites — among a dozen elegant event spaces. Brides and grooms can start the day with a Ten Spa couple's massage, enjoy an overnight romance package, and begin married life with a leisurely brunch in the Broadway Breakfast Room. One of Winnipeg's newest full-service wedding venues is Club Regent Event Centre, which can accommodate 500 guests PLACES of e HEART
