Curtis Flooring manager Francine Curtis says
soothing, mid-to-light earth tones and greys
are on-trend carpet colours for fashion-for-
ward homeowners in 2016. And on the easy-
care front, a new waterproof carpet line called
LifeGuard is worth exploring. Its innovative fi-
bre and backing keep liquids from penetrating
beneath the surface, which is a major plus for
homeowners with pets and children.
"If you spill something, it will literally sit on top,
so clean-ups are easy, whereas before liquids
would go right through and wet your subfloor."
Curtis and her staff decided to spill water on a
piece of LifeGuard carpet to test it out.
"It never penetrated through — it evaporat-
ed!" she says. "So it's a great fibre. It's a little bit
more expensive, but it's come down in price
and in 2016 they are going to be introducing
different styles at a much lower price, so any-
body can afford it."
