Opening in 2017, École Sage Creek School will accommodate 600 students from kindergarten to Grade 8, and also offer 114 child care spaces. The new building is starting to take shape and the playground in Ron Duhamel Park will begin construction in spring. The Village Centre will see even more great things in 2016, with the opening of a bar and grill, a fitness centre and medical practice. One new business set to open is Marquis Dance Academy, which will open its doors September 1, 2016. Offering a multitude of dance classes from tap and jazz to hip hop for kids of all ages, Marquis Dance Academy will be only a short walk from the new school. "I chose to move to Sage Creek for all kinds of reasons," explains Angele Lavergne, owner of Marquis Dance Academy. "We're celebrating our Community Spirit iS SeCond nature in Sage Creek By Kik Innovation for Qualico Communities >> it's hard to believe that only 10 years ago Sage Creek was an open expanse of land. With great care and vision, Qualico has brought the community to life, and the residents have brought unmistakable spirit to this growing community. When asked what makes this area so special, Linda Frenz-Cove of Hearth Homes has no doubt that it's the residents: "First off, it's the people," she says. "They have an amazing residents' group and the residents themselves make it a wonder- ful place. The actual environment is spectacular, too. The trails, the walking paths, the style of the homes, the retail side and the new school opening soon are all huge. Plus, you can walk or bike to do your banking or shopping which promotes a healthy lifestyle." Lang Wong is the Social Committee Chair of the Sage Creek Residents' Association. The community group organizes a variety of community events, including their annual Can- ada Day party which drew hundreds of people to Ron Duhamel Park in 2015. He echoes Linda's sentiment that it's the people who make it great: "Our mandate at the Residents' Association is to create opportunities for people to meet and get to know each other. Everyone here is new, so we're all looking for some type of feeling of home. For me, this means meeting neighbours and helping to develop the sense of community. The school will also help and the playground we're building will add even more ties for the kids in the neighbourhood." 124 Parade of Homes Spring 2016
