H omeowners will find plenty of fresh ideas for spring renovations, decor and even dog houses at The Winnipeg Home + Garden Show, on April 1- 3 at RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg. "We are so excited to be back for our 42nd year with a new look and name. The Winnipeg Home + Garden Show is still the same great show that people have come to know and love, but it's better than ever before," says show manager Jenn Tait. "There is literally something for everyone and every type of homeowner." More than 175 local businesses, experts and special guests will be on hand to offer advice and inspiration, including W Network's Love it or List it Vancouver stars Jillian Harris and Todd Talbot and HGTV's Home to Win star Carson Arthur. Jillian and Todd will talk about renovations, share design tips and take questions from the audience at the Urban Barn Main Stage on April 1 at 7 p.m. and April 2 at 3 p.m., with autograph signings to follow. Carson takes the stage April 2 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and April 3 at 12 noon to talk about curb appeal, answer audience questions, and hand out some great prizes. Throughout the weekend, guests can speak to experts from the Manitoba Home Builders' Association, take advantage of the Ask a Renovator feature and cruise a special pop-up edition of local craft market Scattered Seeds. The show is also presenting two charitable features: Barkitecture and Better Gnomes & Gardens. "Better Gnomes & Gardens is a creative charity initiative where 10 of Winnipeg's best-known media, designers and community influencers will transform plain garden gnomes into pieces of outdoor art. All 10 pieces will be up for bids at the show, with 100% of funds donated to Winnipeg Harvest," Tait says. Barkitecture challenges hosts of The Ace Burpee Show on 103.1 FM Virgin Radio, along with representatives from BOB FM, Stantec, and Habitat for Humanity Manitoba to transform a standard dog house into a dog's dream house. "There are absolutely no limits as to what the participants can do, so I'm very excited to see their ideas come to life," Tait says. "Showgoers can buy raffle tickets for the chance to win one of the dog houses with 100% of all proceeds supporting Habitat for Humanity Manitoba, which provides families with safe, affordable places to live. We'll also be awarding a Best in Show trophy to the participant whose dog house raises the most money." Tait encourages everyone to enjoy the fun, get inspired and take the opportunity to tap into expert advice for your home, inside and out. "We're excited to present a top-notch collection of Winnipeg's best local vendors and talent who will be showcasing all the interior design, home and garden expertise you'll ever need to tackle your next home projects."
