10 MANITOBA CAMPING ASSOCIATION May 5, 2016 By Max Ehrman for the Free Press S ummer is just around the corner! While this is definitely an exciting time, you may still be looking for the right place for your kids to experience it. Somewhere full of fun and learning, friendship and growth. Somewhere they can spend all their energy. Sounds like your children are in need of an adventure at Camp Arnes this summer! After a winter cooped up inside, it's time to experience what the great outdoors have to offer. Children from the ages of 6-17 can get in on their very own adventure that they will remember for a lifetime. Whatever it is that gets them excited, your children will find something to write home about at camp. In fact, when you see what Camp Arnes is all about, you'll wish you could come yourself! Maybe you're wondering what's so great about camp, and Camp Arnes in particular? A better question is, how do we manage to pack it all into just one week? Our list of activities and adventures reads more like a kid's bucket list than a summer camp schedule. From horseback riding to paintball, laser tag to the high ropes challenge course, there's plenty to get excited about. Summer camp is such a great place for kids. That's because at camp, kids can be just that: kids. If you try to imagine a place built just for kids, odds are it looks something like Camp Arnes. From wake to sleep, everything about summer camp is fine-tuned especially for kids fun, safety and growth (though they'll be so focused on the fun, they'll barely notice the rest!) Along they way, they even forget about their phones, video games and social media! When you experience real adventure, everything else takes a back seat. So what exactly will they do, you ask? Regardless of their age, everyone who comes to camp gets to try two exciting activities a day. This can include testing their skills with a bow at the archery range, or reaching for new heights at the high ropes challenge course. Our location on beautiful Lake Winnipeg means navigating a canoe and surfing on stand- up paddleboards is part of the equation too. From traditional camp activities (like arts and crafts!) to state of the art ways to have a good time (outdoor laser tag!), we're not much for sitting around. On top of all that, dedicated programs for paintball and horsemanship are also available. Each day comes standard with swim time, too, and a visit to the tuck shop for candy and treats. Talk about an ideal day for kids of all ages! But camp is so much more than just the activities, the beach, the pool and the games. What makes Camp Arnes such a memorable adventure for campers are the relationships they build. Camp Arnes is staffed by young adults who have a genuine desire to see campers grow in confidence, faith and friendship. And speaking of friendships, the opportunities are boundless! Whether your child comes to camp with a friend or not, they are guaranteed to leave with a bunch more. Nothing is as impactful for children and youth as friendships forged through shared, memorable experiences. So, if you're looking for a place where a kid can be a kid, make lifelong friends, and build memories and confidence that will endure, consider an adventure at Camp Arnes this summer! ❚ For more information, please see the Camp Arnes website at camparnes.com. Situated on the west side of Lake Winnipeg, Camp Arnes offers a wide variety of camps and activities for children of all ages. Submitted photos Summer at Camp Arnes, what adventure is all about
