Preserving the Harvest will teach students various methods of preserving fresh food, from canning to pickling, freezing and drying. "A lot of people don't know about canning anymore. There's a chance to learn about a lot of things in this one- evening course," says Laidlaw. "It's all about learning how to preserve the bounty of your harvest so you can enjoy it all winter." This fall will also see the debut of a Korean cooking course, where students will learn how to make kimchi, bibimbap, spicy tofu stew and noodles with black bean sauce. For those who would like to delve a little deeper, Louis Riel's Continuing Education department offers From Daydreams to Plans, a self-discovery, professional development course. "We all have things we want to do but we have excuses and reasons why they never happen," Laidlaw says. "This two-night course helps students figure out how to turn their dreams into reality." The RWB's recreational division offers adult instruction in many styles of dance, while the Louis Riel School Division's Continuing Education department is serving up courses on beekeeping, Korean cooking, canning and pickling.
