and energy efficiency.'

Builders are constantly tweaking designs to tailor homes
to modern lifestyles. These days, attractive features such
as spacious master suites and open-concept kitchens
and great rooms are the norm, along with thoughtfully
planned storage.
"We have a lot of houses now where a walk-in closet is
standard in every bedroom," Curtis says. "People's lives
have evolved and changed, so the way we use our
homes has also changed. We try to pay attention and
incorporate some of those things."
For example, Hilton Homes recently included a small raised
bathtub in a home to make it easier for clients to give their
dog a bath. A show home at 208 Bonaventure dr., in the
new Bonavista neighbourhood in south Winnipeg, includes
a sought-after feature: A large mud room complete with a
bench, cubbyholes, lockers and a full wall of storage.
"If you've got a family with kids and you live in Winnipeg,
you've got so many different seasons of clothes to wear,"
Curtis says. "now you've got somewhere for all that to go.
There's a place for everything."
The Bonavista home will be featured in the Fall Parade of
Homes along with six other Hilton entries, in La salle, dev-
onshire village, Bridgwater Centre and Bridgwater Trails.
Artista Homes' Frank Cotroneo — whose Parade entries in-
clude show homes in oak Bluff West, sage Creek, Bridgwa-
ter Trails, Bonavista and new Charleswood neighbourhood
ridgeWood West — points out that building or buying a
home in a new development provides additional benefits.
