Given that some neighbourhoods have more than 10 homes open for viewing, a comfortable walking shoe that slips on and off easily is ideal. • Plan to visit show homes on weekdays. The crowds are smaller and the sales agent will have more time to answer any questions you may have as you tour the home. You'll also have more elbow room to check out displays and additional information many builders supply for potential buyers. This may include anything from mortgage calculators to updates on the latest innovations in energy efficiency. • Talk to the agents: Sales agents can fill you in on unique features, energy efficiencies and construction materials that make each home special. • Map a strategy: If you have a particular destination in mind, look for additional homes to visit on the way. Many subdivisions are in close proximity to each other and it's easy to see a number of them during one tour. • Don't forget the one-offs: Enjoy the variety in subdivisions with multiple homes, but don't miss the hidden gems in neighbourhoods that have only one Parade listing. • Have fun: You can visit as many show homes as you like, as often as you like. It doesn't matter if you're in the market for a new home or if you're just looking for life-size design inspiration. Take a friend, take your time, and have fun. Remember, show homes are open year-round. Check the MHBA website at www.homebuilders.mb.ca for show home locations.
