Residential | Commercial >> It's not uncommon for new homeowners to throw a housewarming party. That happens with clients of Signature Homes, but it's not the first celebration to christen the biggest pur- chase of their lives. When the happy homeowners are handed their keys, Signature staff hold a "possession party" — complete with a gift and a thank-you card for choosing the Win- nipeg-based business. It's just one of the personal touches that's, well, a sig- nature of Signature Homes. From the moment someone contacts the company to enquire about building a new home, the customer service stands out. The staff of six speak a combined five lan- guages aside from English, including Can- tonese, Mandarin, Tagalog, French and Guya- nese. "It really helps," says Signature Homes gen- eral manager Gerry Mawhinney. "A lot of buyers these days are relatively new citizens. "Everyone wants to feel comfortable. We pride ourselves on teamwork and being hon- est and ethical." Customer service has been enhanced since Signature Homes welcomed new manage- ment last year. The company has been in Winnipeg since 1969, and was acquired by third-generation Brandon-based family busi- ness J&G Group. Signature HomeS Building a Beautiful framework for your life … P r o f i l e — For Parade of Homes Magazine It continues to provide innovative, af- fordable homes in Winnipeg neigh- bourhoods such as Bridgwater and South Pointe, and, starting this year, the new Bonavista neighbourhood. During the building process, clients appreciate the emphasis Signature Homes places on open communica- tion at every step of the way — from going over blueprints of the design to walk-throughs of the home at the framing stage to ensure everything is just as they envisioned. Clients can add custom elements and upgrades to standard homes to suit their own style and budget — it's sort of an "a la carte system," Mawhinny says. "The functionality of one person is different than someone else for their lifestyle." Even after clients move into their new homes, Signature staff are available to answer any questions and ensure they know how everything works. "Your home is the framework where your life story is largely written — that's what we're looking to build for our customer," Mawhinney says.
