This fall, the Parade featured more than 130 show-home entries from almost 40 builders, many incorporating advanced energy-efficient technologies and new materials that combine beauty and extreme durability indoors and out. The latest design trends, unique finishes and bold new features — a dramatic granite fireplace and surround, stainless steel on countertops and home gyms, to name a few — are on full display, and no two show homes are exactly alike. They run the gamut from cozy havens that are just right for empty-nesters to luxurious bungalows and multi-level abodes that can easily accommodate multi-generational families. There are multiple choices in condominiums that are tailored to modern lifestyles, with surprising extras like sundecks and fenced yards, and in locations that increase the livability factor. Whatever the style or size, show homes are built for daily living, with conveniences like spacious mud rooms, walk-in closets in foyers, walk-through pantries in kitchens, main- and second-floor laundries and creative storage spaces that will help homeowners keep that show-home look for years to come. The awards gala was the celebratory finale to the fall Parade, but you can still tour show homes in every area of Winnipeg, and in rural Manitoba too. Hours are extended during the Parade of Homes, but show homes are open year-round. Check out individual builders' websites to see past successes, current show homes and options for customizing your own dream home.
