Université de Saint-Boniface (USB) offers a variety of day camps to both English and French-speaking children. This summer, send your English-speaking child to USB's day camp called Tu Parles! This French-immersion day camp is for children (seven to 12 years old) who want to learn or improve their French through physical, creative and discovery-based activities. Your child already speaks French? Send them to one of USB's French day camps: Camplus sur campus printemps (spring) or Camplus sur campus été (summer). These camps are offered to French-speaking children (six to 14 years old), giving them the opportunity to take a step toward life-long learning in French at USB. You don't have to live in Brandon to attend classes through Brandon University. Popular graduate programs at the university are available online. Master's degrees in education can be fully completed by distance, with a specialization in educational administration, special education, or curriculum. those three specializations, plus counselling, are also offered in a blended on-campus and distance model. The master of psychiatric nursing program — the only one of its kind in North America — is delivered entirely online, to students from across Canada, including students being welcomed to campus for an orientation weekend at the start of the school year, for seminars, faculty research presentations and introductions. It's not just advanced degree courses that are available for learners everywhere. The BU Native Studies department offers several courses online, including natives and the justice system. It is a popular course that is also useful for attaining a Justice Systems Certificate. The tranquil setting of Providence College in Otterburne, Man., appeals to many. "We're only a half hour from Winnipeg, so you get the best of both worlds. We have a river running right next to our 100-acre campus, and we have skiing and hiking trails," says David Johnson, president of Providence College. "It's a good place — we like it out here. The setting is beautiful." Providence is also a great place to make friends from around the world. Twenty per cent of the college's students are international. "We have students from 40 different countries, so students get an international flavour when they come to Providence," Johnson says. ❚ MAKE CONNECTIONS THROUGH LEARNING By Holli Moncrieff for the Free Press Tired of the status quo?
