called that," swan says.
over the years, kitchen islands have taken root,
and they're growing to accommodate social gath
erings, with large seating areas set apart from the
workspace.

liam Millne says the company's show home at 14
camira Way has a 12foot island that seats five or
six people comfortably, with plenty of room to
spare.
"the island is big enough that it has a wine fridge,
a garbage recycling pullout, a microwave, a dish
washer, extra cabinets, all that sort of stuff," he says.
swan says the supersized islands are just one of
many features that have evolved to accommodate
modern lifestyles.

has a fitness room on the lower level, which is a lot
more convenient than driving to a gym.
Main and secondfloor laundry rooms are another
convenience, and the needs of multigeneration
households are dictating additions like second "ex
press" laundry rooms and master suites for aging
parents — and, more recently, for adult children
who are moving back into the parental home.
At least they don't have to live in the basement. lower levels with walk
outs are increasingly luxe.
"every home now is unique in its own way," Moore says. "And if you want
an adaptation of an existing style or drawing or architectural form, it can
be done. the consumer really has their choice of anything."
