"Homeowners are becoming smart
to want to design their kitchens in a
way that really suits the rest of their
home," she says.
The one thing that never seems to
change is the function of the kitch-
en itself, which through the decades
has remained not only a focal point
for design, but also the central gath-
ering place for family and friends.
"Homeowners want their kitchen
to make a statement — they want
people to walk in the kitchen and
be impressed by the beauty of it, the
look and the lines," says Cyr.
"But beyond that, they want to be
able to entertain. They know people
are going to gather there, so it has to
have flow, and we have to make sure
there's enough room for movement
within. And of course at the very ba-
sic level, they want to maximize stor-
age — all in a really convenient way."

it has to have flow, and we have to make sure
there's enough ro for movement within.'
