who's who 2017 Mid-Canada Boat Show 17 By Judy Owen I t seems like every year manufacturers come out with boats that are bigger, better or have more bells and whistles. Rond's Marine has a reputation for keeping up with the latest advances in the industry, and the Winnipeg company won't disappoint with a special boat it's featuring at the Mid-Canada Boat Show. It will unveil a South Bay tritoon that came out this year with a full windshield going across the front of the driver and passenger. But that's not all show visitors will admire when they inspect the 23-foot luxury vessel with a price tag topping $100,000. The dream boat is powered by an impressive 300-horsepower Mercury motor, has pillow-top furniture, built-in GPS, an LED digital dash display, sleek-looking radar arch and much, much more. "South Bay covers a wide range of the entry-level and mid-level pontoon boat, but we haven't really brought in their high-end stuff," Rond's Marine sales manager Tyler Bromley says. "This is a new model for South Bay this year with the full windshield. We're trying to showcase what they can do on another level and what we can offer." The dealership also carries new and used Bayliner and Crownline runabouts and Crestliner fishing boats. "Rond's has something for everybody, from the entry level to the big high-end stuff with the big horsepower." The company is also an authorized dealer of Polaris snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, side-by-sides and motorcycles. Always striving to bring customers the newest recreational vehicles, last year was the first one in Manitoba for the Polaris Slingshot. The futuristic-looking, two- person motorcycle has two wheels in front and one in the back. "You sit in it like a car. It's got a steering wheel," Bromley says. "We try to stay current and up to date with what's new and neat in the marketplace." Rond's also carries outboard motors, accessories and has a full-service shop with highly trained staff. Technicians can do engine rebuilds, pre-season inspections and winterization – anything clients require to keep their boats and recreational vehicles in tip-top condition. Fulfilling customers' wide-ranging needs has been the dealership's calling card for 60 years. Rond's Marine was started by the Rondeau family in 1957 and bought by Bromley's father and uncle in 1996. Maintaining the personalized service customers have come to expect from a family owned business is something Bromley and the staff, which includes cousin Breydon, take very seriously. Bromley's father and uncle are still involved in Rond's, but also own Transcona Trailer Sales, another family run company that caters to a different segment of the recreation market. ❙ Showcasing a Dream Boat Rond's Marine carries innovative products, from the Polaris Slingshot motorcycle (pictured below) to a new South Bay tritoon with a full windshield that's similar to this pictured model. who's who 2017 Mid-Canada Boat Show 17 wheel," Bromley says.
