Making a Difference Awards, bursaries and scholarships Manitoba Hydro 's Education Funding Program supports continuing education for Manitoba students. Awards, bursaries and scholarships are offered to high school, college and university students who are registered in programs that prepare them for an exciting career with us. In 2012, we are offering awards, bursaries and scholarships valued at over $200,000. This funding includes a new partnership with the University College of the North where Manitoba Hydro has committed $20,000 per year for two types of scholarships for Aboriginal students. Those that are specifically for academic programs required for employment at Manitoba Hydro as well as funding for enrollment in general academic programs. Ten individual Generating Futures Scholarships valued at $10,000 each will be awarded this year. To be considered for a Generating Futures Scholarship, students must be of Aboriginal ancestry, be registered as a full time student in a post-secondary educational institution and have a minimum 60 per cent course load in Engineering, Business, Information Technology or Engineering Technology. First year students are required to provide a copy of their acceptance letter to the school along with a copy of their final transcript from their last year of high school. Teachers - Nominate your students! Teachers can nominate their students for the Manitoba Hydro Mathematics, Physics or Science Fair Awards, valued at $200 each. Nominated students must be of Aboriginal ancestry.
