AT THIS YEAR'S ISLENDINGADAGURINN ICELANDICFESTIVAL.COM DISC VER Y O U R L A N D AUGUST 4-7, 2017 GIMLI, MANITOBA Osborne Village (osbornevillage.com) will once again host one of the city's biggest Canada Day celebrations. This year's festivities, which are sponsored by the Osborne Village BIZ, will include the Canada Day Classic Street Hockey Tournament, five live entertainment stages, a Village fashion show, a massive family zone and 14 extended patios. One of the highlights of the event will take place at 1 p.m. when Winnipeggers are invited to sing Happy Birthday Canada at the Bell Tower stage and enjoy a free piece of Canada's birthday cake. Canada Day at The Forks (theforks.com) offers fun for people of all ages. Guests will be able to will be able to take in live entertainment on three separate stages at one of the city's most popular destinations. Live entertainment will be offered on the Festival Main Stage at 5 p.m. This year's performers will include Mamadou, Carly Dow, Alpha Toshineza, Whitehorse and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. There will also be live performances throughout the day under the canopy and port stages. The day's festivities will wrap up with fireworks at 11 p.m. Canada Day will be an opportunity to celebrate both the past and the present at Oak Hammock March (oakhammockmarsh.ca) in Stonewall. The interpretive centre is hosting a family- friendly birthday celebration that will include rides in a horse-drawn wagon and storyteller Allan Webb. You'll also be able to participate in a guided canoe adventure or rent your own canoe. Birthday cake will be served at 2 p.m. Assiniboine Park (assiniboinepark.ca) will host the annual Family Fun Day, a daylong event for families to gather and celebrate the nation's birthday. The celebrations will kick off at 1 p.m. and feature a variety of activities for people of all ages including live musical entertainment on the Lyric Stage and a kids' play zone. The day will wrap up with a spectacular fireworks display in the evening. A number of park and ride locations will be set up to make getting to the park easy. The Winnipeg Goldeyes (goldeyes.com) will host their annual Canada Day game on July 1 with a special 4 p.m. start time when they play the Sioux Falls Canaries.
