We measured all aspects of the sector to get a better understanding of their overall contribution to our local economy. Manitoba's bio science sector consists of three primary industries: bio health, agricultural biotech (ag biotech) and industrial biotech. These industries combined have created major opportunities to build a strong base of highly skilled and knowledgeable workers in our province. BUILDING MANITOBA'S SCIENCE SECTOR FACT 1: Manitoba's bio science sector saw a significant revenue increase in 2016 – especially in bio health. Revenue for 2016 was approximately $978,800,000. BIO HEALTH 77% / 750M AG BIOTECH 16% / 158M INDUSTRIAL 7% / 70M FACT 2: Manitoba's bio science sector was a major contributor to Manitoba's economy thanks to its high share of exports. 82% 77K OF THE SECTOR'S $978M IN ANNUAL REVENUES ARE EXPORTS THAT DIRECTLY INCREASE MANITOBA'S GDP. IS THE AVERAGE BIO SCIENCE SALARY IN MANITOBA. WHAT WE LEARNED As a non-profit, LSAM strives to grow Manitoba's vibrant life science industry.
