"We're trying to raise $75,000 for the curling club for renova- tions and upgrades. Our goal is a $101,000 profit," he said. Much of the revenue is coming from a raft of mostly local corporate supporters. For example, $100,000 was raised from 10 diamond sponsors while another $45,000 came from nine gold sponsors. Depending on the level of commitment, spon- sors receive a combination of in-ice logos, preferential seating, access to the VIP lounge for food and drink and parking passes. Of course, the biggest supporter of them all is Viterra, the Regina-based grain company, which replaced Canada Safeway as the title sponsor a few years ago. Attendance at the 2015 Scotties was about 10,000 at the Winkler Arena, which holds 1,200 per draw, and Tanguay is con- fident fans from nearby communities such as Altona, Carmen and Morden but also as far away as Winnipeg, Portage la Prairie and Neepawa will keep hotels, restaurants and bars hopping. "It's important to show the province that we can host some- thing like this. We want to show our community pride," he said.
