RIDGEWOOD WEST A Budding Community In Charleswood With new services, incredible new de- sign projects, and endless opportuni- ties to connect with nature, RidgeWood West continues to grow and flourish. Everything a new home buyer is looking for is all here, within this deep-rooted Winnipeg neighbourhood. "Since the first lot release in the fall of 2015, sales and house starts in RidgeWood West have been steady," says Tara Reid, of Qualico Communities. "It's been desirable to purchasers from older parts of Charleswood, plus other parts of the city. For some, RidgeWood West builds on an area they already know and love, and for others, it's a new and ex- citing neighbourhood." In addition to the location, home buyers are drawn to RidgeWood West for the diversity in home fea- tures, lot sizes, and pricing. "Whether you're looking for a quiet cul-de-sac, picturesque wetland views, rear yard privacy created by a forested public reserve, an affordable starter home, or your custom-built dream home." Upcoming new phases offer a vari- ety of lots, including walk-out lower level lots backing onto naturalized wetlands. Phase 1C will be featured in the fall 2018 Parade of Homes, and a new phase of serviced lots is planned for later this year. "More than 100 families moved to Ridge- Wood West last year, and the community is really getting activated," says Sarah An- derson, of Qualico Communities. The RidgeWood West Residents' As- sociation (RWRA) was formed this past spring. "The Association grew out of an interest in building a playground for the community," says Robin Cros- bie, a founding member of the Associ- ation. "We aim to give the community a social platform where residents can exchange ideas, common interests, suggestions, and concerns." The new playground will blend seamlessly with the area's natural prairie landscaping. In the coming months, the community will select a final design. "Having a place for families to meet and interact is huge for a new devel- opment. It allows you to meet your neighbours, form new friendships, and build trust. It's a space where kids can safely socialize and get some exercise," says Crosbie. In the future, the RWRA will orga- nize family fun days, festivals, and other community events. "As more residents continue to build in Ridge- Wood West, and our community grows, the planned activities and ini- tiatives will also expand." "RidgeWood West is still very much a growing community," says Reid. "With a busy year of sales and house starts in 2017, we expect that the momentum will continue on throughout 2018." RidgeWood West offers a natural sense of calm, without disconnect- ing residents from all of the conve- niences of city life. "We were looking for a new area to call home, as we were liv- ing in my old family home that needed renovations in the St. James area," says Jamie Neville. "We looked in a number of dif- ferent neighbourhoods, but we fell in love with Charleswood and RidgeWood West. We wanted something that was going to be close to schools, with quick ac- cess to outdoors. From the Harte Trail, we can walk or ride our bikes, and connect to other trails all over the city. "RidgeWood West has given us a safe community, quick access in and out of the city, and a little piece of nature in our back yards. Now the kids have access to all three levels of schools within a 10-minute walk," says Neville. One of the main advantages for those choosing to stay or relocate to RidgeWood West is the fact that there's no waiting for new schools, day cares or amenities to be estab- lished. "We lived in Charleswood for over 10 years and were looking for a bigger house within the com- munity," says new RidgeWood West resident Rachelle Isaak. "When this new development came about just steps away, we knew it was perfect for us. Our children won't have to change schools and we can stay con- nected to all of our Charleswood friends, while making new con- nections."
