FARM TO SCHOOL
Farm to School Across Manitoba SUBMITTED BY PEAK OF THE MARKET LTD.
P eak of the Market Ltd.’s Farm to School program continues to make a meaningful impact in communities across Manitoba, helping schools, daycares and organizations raise funds while promoting healthy eating and sup- porting local agriculture. During the 2025–26 school year, the program raised more than $100,000 for participating organiza- tions across the province, helping deliver upwards of 133,000 pounds of fresh produce to Manitoba fami- lies and communities. Since launching in 2011, the Farm to School program has provided schools and daycares with the op- portunity to sell Peak of the Market Ltd. vegetables while keeping 50 per cent of total sales. Funds raised through the initiative have support- ed everything from infrastructure improvements and technology up- grades to playground enhancements and community initiatives.
The program also encourages participants to give back by offer- ing vegetable bundles that can be donated directly to local food banks, helping extend the impact beyond the school community. While the fundraiser previously operated in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, the program focused exclusively on Manitoba during the 2025–26 school year, strengthening its connection to local schools, fami- lies and communities. “Farm to School continues to be a meaningful way for schools and daycares to raise funds while encour- aging healthy eating habits,” says Pamela Kolochuk, CEO of Peak of the Market Ltd. “We’re proud to see the impact the program is making across Manitoba and are excited to build on that momentum in the year ahead.” For many participating schools, the fundraiser offers benefits that go far beyond financial support. “Calvin Christian School’s collegiate campus has been participating in the Farm to School vegetable fundraiser
for the past three years,” Megan Verleih says. “It’s very easy to administer, which we truly appreciate, and the 50 per cent profit makes it an excellent fundraiser for our school.” Verleih adds that supporting local farmers while providing vegetables families can enjoy at home has been especially meaningful for the school community. “The best part is partnering with our local food bank throughout the year,” she says. “Our families have been incredibly generous in pur- chasing bundles to donate, and it feels so good to raise funds for our school while also providing fresh vegetables to members of our com- munity who need them most.” Registration for the 2026–27 Farm to School program opened on May 15, 2026.
