B ienvenue! Welcome to two affiliated golf facilities, located just 30 min- utes apart, near the perimeter highway in south St.Vital. The first, to work on your game, practice, and take lessons, is the St.Vital Golf Centre, located at 35 Melnick road at the perimeter. The second – the Maplewood Golf Club – is just a short drive south to St.Pierre-Jolys, and is one of Manitoba’s most scenic and fun courses to play. Both courses are managed and oper- ated by PGA of Can- ada golf professional Barry Gibson. Barry has over 25 years of experience, with an extensive back- ground in teaching and club fitting, and a distinct focus on customer service. The St. Vital Golf Centre features Win- nipeg’s largest, top-conditioned all-grass practice tees, along with practice putting and chipping areas. The centre is home to McGibby’s Golf, a full service golf shop with the latest in equipment, club fitting technol- ogy and digital video swing analysis. McGibby’s is an authorized Ping n’ Flight fitting centre. This operates using Ping’s industry-leading custom fitting software, backed by radar-based Flight Scope technology, to help with both fitting and teaching.

Along with complete custom club fitting, a full scope of lessons are available, includ- ing private lessons, group lessons, begin- ner clinics, and junior programs. Up highway 59 from the centre, Maple- wood Golf Course, formerly the old Rat River course, has undergone extensive remodeling and improvements. The course now boasts complete flood protection, drainage, and fairway and green renova-

tions. It also features a modernized course lay- out, which takes full ad- vantage of the unique rolling river basin to- pography. The Rat River winds through the layout, com- ing into play on several

holes. Players will experience small undu- lating elevated greens, rolling fairways, and strategic tee shots and approaches. This results in a course that provides a scenic, fun challenge for all skill levels. Maplewood Golf Club is fully open for public play, tournaments and leagues and has a popular senior’s league on Wednesdays. The St. Vital Golf Centre and the Maple- wood Golf Club combine to offer a unique experience for Manitoba golfers – both a great place to practice, and a great place to play.
