Sharp cheese and smart eggs make the grade by Lindsey Ward Culinary Crafts

F oodies who crave quality goods don’t have to look too hard – or too far – these days. Rural Manitoba is on the map when it comes to high- class nosh thanks to companies like Bothwell Cheese and Nature’s Farm, which specializes in Smart Eggs. “We love to hang our hat on the fact that (our cheese) is a local product,” says Bothwell’s acting sales manager Karen Trochim. “Why wouldn’t you support locally? If there’s a product there that you can find right at your back door, why would we not purchase that product instead of something we know comes from another province or out of the country?” Especially when you know what you’re getting. Bothwell cheese, produced 45 minutes southeast of Winnipeg in the 500-person town of New Bothwell, is all natural.
