MANITOBA BLUE CROSS

Workplace well-being support for whatever comes your way

I t’s common nowadays to hear about stretched resources and growing demands across industries. That makes it even more important to know where support is available, whether it’s helping employees thrive, developing strong leaders or navigating challenges. In addition to comprehensive health benefits coverage, Manitoba Blue Cross offers workplace well- being services designed to support employees, leaders and organizations. Through a range of professional resources, these services help foster healthier, more resilient workplaces while supporting well-being both on and off the job. From critical incident and trauma response support to skill- building and leadership development, the services are available to everyone — and not just to those with Manitoba Blue Cross coverage. “All of them are available on a fee-for-service basis, to anyone,” says Jodie Voth, manager of employee assistance services. “The support we provide can benefit workplaces of all sizes and sectors. That’s why these services are available to any Manitoba employer, not just to our existing clients.” Voth, a trained marriage and family therapist, says there’s no one-size- fits-all when it comes to mental health. That’s where she and her team of masters-level clinicians come in to understand the circumstances, identify priorities and recommend appropriate next steps. Organizations can access a complimentary consultation by phone or video to discuss options tailored to their unique needs.

Everyone needs a helping hand sometimes, and Manitoba Blue Cross workplace well-being services are equipped to address a range of situations. Their crisis response services cover the full spectrum from consultation and response planning to structured debriefings in a group or one-to-one setting. The team is prepared to help navigate how to cope with serious issues at work, including violence, theft or robbery, traumatic injury or death, chronic illness and grief. Workplace well-being services aren’t just available for a crisis but can also be an invaluable resource for leaders. “If an employee is struggling and you’re not sure how to support them, a conversation with one of our clinicians can help you navigate the situation,” Voth says. “Leadership can be isolating at times, especially when you’re managing complex issues. Having an objective

professional to consult with can make a significant difference.” In addition, Manitoba Blue Cross offers leadership coaching that’s appropriate for any workplace leader. The process helps individuals define and achieve personal and professional goals, overcome obstacles and advance in their roles while supporting their organization. “It’s an opportunity to step out of the day-to-day role and talk about the impacts of the work they do,” she says. “They can step away from their work and reconnect with themselves.” Organizations can get started with a no-cost initial consultation to explore the most suitable options for their teams by visiting wellness.mb.bluecross.ca. They can also contact Manitoba Blue Cross directly at workplacewellbeing@mb.bluecross.ca or by calling 204-786-8880 or 1-800-590-5553. ■
