ASSINIBOINE PARK CONSERVANCY

“Membership is always a great gift,” says Kim Wentz, senior director of mar- keting and sales for the Assiniboine Park Conservancy. “Also, leading up to the holiday season, from Nov. 21 to Dec. 24, we offer a gift card promotion where, if you buy $100 worth of gift cards, you get a $20 bonus gift card. Gift cards can be used throughout the park, zoo and Leaf to buy tickets, memberships or used in our restaurants and two gift shops.” The Wild Things gift shop at the zoo and the gift shop at The Leaf are perfect destinations to find unique gifts, such as stuffies or T-shirts featuring a favou- rite animal or locally sourced hand- made goods. This year, the Assiniboine Park Conservancy is offering two events for revellers on New Year’s Eve. The Leaf will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with Leaf After Dark vibes. Leaf After Dark is a twice-monthly licensed adults-only

evening event featuring live music. Admission to Leaf After Dark events is included in the cost of admission or membership but will be on hiatus throughout December and January. Zoo Lights will be open until 1 a.m. on New Year’s Eve for those who want to ring in the new year in the fresh winter air. “We're also running Fleurs de Villes again this season,” Wentz says. “It runs from Jan.15 to 25 at The Leaf. That's a special show just after the new year, but we're going to be selling tickets through- out the holiday season, and it would make a lovely gift.” The theme that will inspire the cre- ations at Fleurs de Villes is “Wonder,” allowing local florists and creatives to put their spin on the wonders of the world using the language of flowers.
