A n item we so readily rely on requires due consideration. “It’s not a small task to put in a door properly,” says Aynsley Dueck, operations man- ager for Duxton Windows and Doors. “Light-duty products like windows are a little bit more forgiv- ing, but swinging doors are very heavily used, so it’s good to think about what you’re getting.” Duxton Windows and Doors has been cre- ating custom doors for more than two decades. They work with architects, homebuilders and ren- ovators alike. They specialize in high-end, indi- vidualized builds and designs and use fibreglass doors exclusively, which are much more durable than PVC or vinyl. A typical timeline from quote through review to manufacturing and installation takes about 10 weeks but can vary depending on the time of year. The design approach of the family-owned busi- ness is iterative, says Dueck, with lots of back-and- forth and many options to choose from. Have you ever thought about how often you use your door? You likely go in and out several times a day. It welcomes visitors to your home. You close and lock it to keep yourself and your family safe. You might use it when describing your house, or it might have a special design or colour that makes you stand out on your block.
