“From an industry as a whole, that is our wheelhouse. It’s to provide guidance, to create programming, to be a resource. It’s dynamic — always-changing, never boring — and innovative,” he says. “We have come a long way. It’s exciting to be part of. We are proud to help make a difference in people’s lives.” Homeowners can be confi- dent that new homebuilders that are part of the Manitoba Home Builders’ Association are committed to continuous improve- ment, while also adapting to new homebuilding techniques and technologies. And they have an organization like PHBI behind them to help support, develop and validate those skills. “We play a role in this industry to make it better. That’s our contribu- tion. We are resourced to program- ming, to facilitating, to professional development,” he says. “If we don’t have the program- ming, we can find those that do have it and bring it to the industry. The industry is focused on making itself better, commit- ting to better. We play a part of that with this committee.”

He is involved with a group of compa- nies across the country special- izing in creating and facilitating training specifically for the new homebuilder industry. PHBI is an education partner with Manitoba

post-secondary institute. It’s an education group that creates and facilitates programming for the new homebuilder industry,” he says. “We also partner with some universities and polytechnics. But we feel we are not just a post-sec- ondary school; we feel we are an embedded part of the industry. Builder education is what we live and breathe every day.” Kristalovich says the new home- builder industry is competitive, but it comes together to advocate as one voice on a lot of initiatives.
