PRAIRIE VIEW LAKES

“Plus we’ve installed one of the largest playgrounds in the municipality as well.”

– TIM COMACK, VICE-PRESIDENT, VENTURA LAND COMPANY AND VENTURA DEVELOPMENTS

The rec centre has two multi- purpose rooms, a full-scale fitness centre and gymnasium, a splash pad and a canteen, which makes it suitable for everything from wedding socials to annual fairs. The other big news is that a covered year-round indoor rink, long in the planning, should be open for use in August 2026. In addition to sports and schools, commercial amenities also serve La Salle. Grocery stores, restaurants, a beer vendor, a hardware store, a pharmacy, a dental clinic and medical centre are all in operation. Insurance and financial services are in town as well as a gas station and car wash, travel agent, spa and hair salon. Adding to the excitement, Ventura also has a show home located at 94 Fourth Ave. Comack stresses that the beautiful, natural setting makes for an excellent quality of life. “I think people don’t recognize La Salle is a river town,” he says. “And that river becomes a focal point for recreational activity for the whole community in spring, summer, fall and winter.” The continued development of amenities and services in the community is a reassuring sign. “It shows that the province is investing pretty heavily in the area,” Comack adds. “And from a growth projection, La Salle is poised to become one of the largest towns in the Capital Region.” 

Comack says the good news story is the approval and registration of 120 acres of subdivision land for a master plan community. “That’s 135 new building lots, with roads and sewers and everything else opened up and ready for additional short-term subdivisions for another 300-plus building lots,” he says. “We have some lake lots, some standard lots and some bare land lots — it’s a wide selection.” That variety will include some smaller lots in the 40- to 50-foot range. “The full subdivision master plan is fully approved,” Comack says, “so there’s no uncertainty about the completion of the community, the roads, the layouts, the park spaces.” Serving the developments are amenities such as the Kingswood Golf and Country Club located along the banks of the La Salle River. And there is plenty of childcare, including a newly expanded daycare at the K-to-8 school. “A large daycare has been built by JohnQ Public right in Prairie View Lakes, too, and it is up and running with 120-plus spaces for various age levels,” Comack says. “Plus we’ve installed one of the largest playgrounds in the municipality as well.” The La Salle Community Centre is also a big draw for young families, sports groups, community gatherings and even winter carnivals.
