ENJOYMENT BLOOMS WHEN SAVING SEEDS BY LINDSEY WARD
IF
gardening is a labour of love, then seed saving might just be a labour of complete and utter devotion.
The patient practice of preserving seeds or other reproductive plant material is ideal for green-thumbs looking to level up. But rest assured there’s no botany degree required; seed saving can be as simple or as
complex as you choose to make it. Where to start? Well, with the basics.
Seed saving can be as easy as pulling the seeds out of a watermelon, drying them out, storing them in a mason jar in the basement and replanting them the next summer. Whether said seeds will a) grow, and b) produce the same melons you retrieved them from — that’s another story.
