“We put all of our foundation walls nine feet in height, so they’re not typical low ceilings in a basement,” Jaquet explains. “When you do finish off the lower level, it’s usable space.” Adding to the ambiance, Avanti also puts bigger windows on the lower levels. Other appealing features include an oversized garage with a workshop and a back deck. And since it’s custom designed, there will be no other home like it. “When we design new show homes for Avanti, they are one-off houses,” Jaquet says. “We want to come up with new product, not what we built last year or the year before. We want a product line that you
can’t buy anywhere else. It’s brand new.” Oak Bluff West is a great loca- tion, Jaquet adds. It’s not far from city amenities, yet it has a country feel with more neigh- bours often out on the streets. Like most small communities outside of Winnipeg, property taxes are lower, so people can also get more bang for their homebuying buck. “In the City of Winnipeg, you’re not going to be getting a 70-foot-plus wide lot anymore at these price points,” Jaquet says. “Oak Bluff West is a very affordable community and you get a bigger lot, which is always nice to have. Larger lots give you more advantages to do things with your home, as compared to some of the city lots.”
