AI Integration cont.
“Josh AI is more catered to the home and wants to take all the systems you have in your house to make things a little simpler."

In 2016, David Estabrook created Inspire Audio Visual with his brother Donald. Since then, they’ve witnessed significant growth in the industry. “AI products will do things that seem kind of impossible,” Estabrook says. “Now we have security camera products that can do more. Five or six years ago, you’d have motion notification with the camera on your driveway. All winter, you’d be getting notifications. Now, cameras can filter out the noise and even detect people that you know. It can say ‘Joey is at the front door’ as
they walk up.” He points to three main areas of AI for the home: security, comfort and entertainment. Security could include alarms, cameras and a video doorbell with notifica- tion automatically set up so the system’s products know what you have and act accordingly. AI will learn from your habits, he adds. They’re now seeing prod- ucts that can measure tempera- tures, water and energy consump- tion. Homeowners can get AI assistance to look at previous history and ask for suggestions on how they can do better.
“With comfort and entertainment, it’s things like your thermostat, blinds, smart lighting. It could look at the thermostat and, based on weather data, offer a suggestion like ‘Let’s close all your south- facing blinds,’” Estabrook says. “It makes it fun and dynamic, more human.” Trevor Siepman of Advanced Residential Technology loves taking new products home to try them out. “When it works, it’s exciting,” he says with a laugh.
