AI Integration cont.
In the industry for many years and now focused on custom home automation, Siepman has become passionate about how AI in the home can improve quality of life. “It has expanded and it’s become so much more mainstream, with so many more options, even without an enormous budget. The biggest area of growth has definitely been lighting, shades and motorized blinds,” Siepman says. “There is a company right now, Josh AI, with a fairly new product that works with voice control. Alexa and Google and Siri have been doing a little bit of that but not a good job from the home side of things.” It wasn’t an exact science. For example, a command to Alexa to turn on the lights would be lost
when there are 17 different lights in the house. “You had to be specific, had to say the phrase every time, and it failed more than it worked,” he says. "Josh AI is more catered to the home and wants to take all the systems you have in your house to make things a little simpler. Raise the curtains, open the drapes — all those commands it learns over time and it actually does the function you want,” Siepman explains, adding that the product also protects clients’ privacy. “I feel like automating my house has made my life simpler. This isn’t for everybody. You have to be interested in it. It has to be some- thing that you want. It can make your life easier.”
THERE ARE THREE MAIN AREAS OF AI FOR THE HOME : 1) security 2) comfort 3) entertainment
