The compact model measures 78 inches (198 centimetres) high by 44 inches (111 centimetres) wide and 40 inches deep, but there’s a size to suit every yard. The kits are an affordable option, and Wiebe says most only take two or three hours to put together, so you’ll still have plenty of time to devote to fun in the sun.
Windeck Ltd. carries more traditional low-maintenance materials, including Duradek, a waterproof, vinyl roof-deck membrane that’s available in a variety of colours and patterns. “It can be used as a second-floor walkout deck, which gives you dry space be- low,” says Windeck president and owner Mel Dueck. “It’s very modern looking — it resembles something closer to a funky kitchen floor. We have it available in everything from a stone-chip pattern to a swirly pattern. It’s just very cool.” Duradek requires professional installation, but once it’s in place all you need to do to keep it looking sharp is hose it down once in a while.
