Builders are devoting more space to private sanctu- aries in humble family nests and luxury homes alike, creating retreats with generous walk-in closets and ensuites that come with all the bells and whistles. Hearth Homes vice-president Matt Wickstrom says elements that were once considered extravagant are now standard items on home buyers’ must-have lists. “People want that spa-like ensuite, so it feels very spacious and roomy and it’s your own little haven in your house,” he says.
