The latest innovations in home construction and design are on display year-round throughout southern Manitoba. And if you travel to as many show homes as Manitoba Home Builders’ Association (MHBA) president Mike Moore, you’ll notice something else in well-planned residential developments. Mature neighbourhoods are fulfilling their potential while new communities continue to sharpen the focus on livability. “It seems like every year when new developments are going I find a very clever outline,” Moore says. “The traffic pattern and the attempt to make neighbourhoods quiet and private so it’s not a speedy thoroughfare; the fact that you’re close to a main road, but you really don’t see or notice the main road — there are just some very neat designs.” During the Spring Parade of Homes March 5 - 26, check out new homes and explore the many pedestrian-friendly neighbourhoods where wetlands and native grasses have been incorporated into the landscape. More schools are breaking ground, restaurants and other services are taking shape in central hubs and communities are filling out with pocket developments and a good mix of single- and multi- family homes.
