Another relatively recent addition to the neighbourhood is the Winnipeg Soccer Federation’s massive indoor soccer complex on Leila Avenue, next to grass soccer and baseball fields and the Seven Oaks Arena, which boasts two NHL-size indoor rinks. West of McPhillips, the Wellness Institute at Seven Oaks General Hospital is a full-service fitness centre, with a cushioned indoor track and programs for every age, including yoga and warm-water therapy classes. The area’s big-box stores are ranged along McPhillips Street, but it’s a short jaunt over to Main Street and Riverbend’s shops and services. Golfers, swimmers and Rainbow Stage fans flock to Kildonan Park in summer, and in winter, cross-country skiers take advantage of the park’s groomed trails. The Chief Peguis Trail is directly north of the park, and if you’re headed to the lake, you’re halfway there. It’s a short hop to the north Perimeter and the highways to the Interlake. POH
