“I wanted a bigger yard. I grew up in a small town much like La Salle and wanted a tight-knit community to raise my kids in and have the safety aspect of it, just the engagement of the community centre and the sports scenes, the whole gamut,” he says.
The 40-lot Bridgeman Estates is adjacent to the La Salle River, with walking trails for easy access to town and big lots that provide plenty of space for large bungalows and garages. Less than 10 minutes from the south Perimeter, the town offers a wide range of housing choices. Ventura Land Company has planned its neighbourhoods to accommodate residents for the long term, with options to take them from entry level to empty nest. Blake Vasko, of Sutton Group-Kilkenny Real Estate, is currently showing unique bare-land condominiums for Ventura Developments. The 82-lot Prairie Place Condo development offers single-family, three-bedroom homes that come with private yards, shared front driveways and an attractive price tag, starting under $300,000.

While the town has grown with new developments like Ventura Land Company’s Kingswood South and Prairie View Lakes, as well as Paradigm’s own Bridgeman Estates, progress has been on the positive side. Along with gaining a new community centre, grocery, hardware and liquor stores, La Salle has retained its original charms and lifestyle amenities. “The town has a lot to offer with regards to the river access for all year-round sports, whether it’s boating, canoeing in the summer, ice-fishing, snowmobiling in the wintertime and skating on the rinks,” Baertsoen says.
