“It’s not healthy to live in a cluttered house.” Studies show that reducing clutter can also reduce stress, and it is especially important if you’re planning a move. Clutter makes it hard to show and sell your current house — and you definitely don’t want to take it along when you move. Slator’s definition of decluttered is simple: Everything you own should have a home. She says you have to put aside some time and get yourself organized before you can get your stuff organized. “The first thing is you need some boxes,” she says. “You need to label them: One box is give away; one is throw away; one is keep. Just keep it to the basics.”
