POSTCARD PERFECT — Cont’d from page 96 Pony walls define the dining area — a long wall divides it from the basement staircase and a short wall makes a more subtle divider on the great-room side. In the kitchen, a family-size island separates the workspace from the entertainment area, which has a traditional brick fireplace surround topped with a wood-beam mantle and shaker-style feature wall. Wood accents are also at play throughout the kitchen and dining area — on the tray ceiling, glass cabinets and open shelving, pony-wall caps and as decorative end pieces on the island. There’s about an acre of storage in the space, including a pretty, three-door pantry wall. “This was my favourite home this year to decorate,” MacTavish says. “I did an updated arts-and-craft feel to the home. Brick is becoming quite popular so I used that for around the fireplace. I loved the soft greys with undertones of green and that’s the inspiration for the entire colour scheme. Furniture from Pine Ridge Hollow and Faveri’s fit perfectly into this space.” The kitchen’s Caesarstone countertops, wood shelves and shaker cabinetry are repeated in the primary bedroom’s en suite vanity. White and grey with black hardware, the en suite is all about style and comfort — and a bit more privacy, thanks to its toilet room. A stand-alone tub and glass-enclosed shower complete the space, which leads to a huge walk-in closet. At 2,076 square feet, this house has plenty of elbow room indoors, and there’s more overlooking the backyard. At about 20 feet wide and 12 feet deep, that covered deck is a beautiful, multi-functional area in its own right. THIS HOUSE HAS PLENTY OF ELBOW ROOM INDOORS, AND THERE’S MORE OVERLOOKING THE BACKYARD.
