“With a proper surveillance system, you would receive an instant notification letting you know that you have a package at your door,” Banks says. “You can either go get to it before someone else is going to scoop it off your step, or maybe if you’re not home ask a neighbour to get it for you.” LaRiviere notes the cameras are high-definition, motion- sensored, often have two-way radios and offer different recording options. Both experts say surveillance and alarm systems give people peace of mind. “There’s just so much going on and I almost feel that it’s worse now that we’re in this pandemic,” Banks says. “I think more people are desperate out there so they’re doing things that they shouldn’t be and putting other people in harm’s way. “Everyone wants to feel safe in their own homes, and especially with little ones, they have to be protected. With a proper alarm system or surveillance system, it’s going to protect you more than not having it.” LaRiviere says about 95 per cent of ATG’s new customers have app-based systems. “A lot of our customers like having an app control so they have remote access anywhere they are in the world as long as they’ve got access to the app and internet,” she says.
