“Some developers say you have to have the garage inset into the house. We don’t do that,” Borger says. “We let the people and the builders decide what is best for them. Ultimately the purchaser knows what he or she needs.”

For people interested in a more rural lifestyle, Prairie View Lakes is about eight minutes south of the city in the burgeoning community of La Salle. It’s in the first phase of development and will ul- timately feature nearly 500 single-family building lots as well as senior-specific housing. Tim Comack, vice-president of development for Ventura Land Co., says Prairie View Lakes will complement the already-developed Prairie View Park area. He says larger lots, lower taxes, a local school and a recently opened community centre will make it an attractive destination for growing families. “It’s a very traditional community in the sense it has traditional roots and it’s very family focused,” he says. “We find with the new community club … the community’s come together even more so now. There’s a place now for everybody to meet as a focal point.” Comack says Prairie View Lakes will provide the best of both worlds.
