Bathroom Trends
A popular trend is having a tub filler mounted on the side going to the floor.
Free-standing tubs can also have faucets deck-mounted.
“The trend is either a freestanding tub filler or it can be mounted on the side going to the floor and over the top to pour into the tub,” Proteau says. “You also have the option of a wall-mounted filler, and there are some free-standing tubs that can have the faucets deck-mounted.” Fixtures in matte black and brushed gold are still hot on the scene.
Free-standing tubs that can fit into almost any space ranging from 60 to 72 inches continue to be favoured, she adds. “There’s now a tub that’s made with stone, or grindings of stone or rock, where they add a resin to it and they form into a composite,” Proteau says. “The tubs actually absorb the heat from the water and stay warmer
longer, like the old cast-iron tubs but without as much weight.” The same manufacturers making the composite tubs also make sinks. Many clients are still choosing the lighter weight acrylic tubs for afford- ability and style. The next question the homeowner has to ask is how to fill those vessels.
