>> Brandy Dobson got into the construction safety business by accident. Dobson was in law school when she took a temporary job as an office assistant at a local construction firm and found her true calling.

She was asked to put together a safety program for employ- ees and that experience launched her into a new career. “I’ve been working in the industry for nearly 20 years and I think I’ve taken nearly every safety course available,” Dob- son says. “I started off wanting to be a lawyer, and I find this similar.

Regulations are much more strict and, as a result, workplaces are safer.

I’m still working with the law. I’m helping companies meet safety requirements.” As owner of consulting business Safecon Solutions, Dobson helps residential, industrial and commercial construction companies manage their safety programs. She keeps clients updated on workplace health and safety laws and regulations, helps them incorporate the rules into their practices and performs safety inspections at con- struction sites.
